What AOA Somalia Does

Industry Representation
AOA Somalia represents the shared interests of airline operators and aviation related stakeholders. The Association provides a unified platform for members to express common concerns and participate in aviation sector discussions. This includes engagement with civil aviation authorities, airport operators, government institutions, development partners, international aviation organizations, and private sector stakeholders. AOA Somalia may support members by preparing position papers, participating in consultations, raising operational issues, and contributing to policy discussions that affect Somalia's aviation environment.

Policy Advocacy and Consultation
AOA Somalia supports responsible aviation policy dialogue. The Association may engage on issues such as airport services, aviation charges, passenger facilitation, domestic connectivity, air cargo development, operational efficiency, airport infrastructure, sustainability, taxation, and sector competitiveness. The Association does not create laws or issue regulations. Its role is to provide practical industry views that help decision makers understand the operational realities of airlines and aviation service providers. AOA Somalia promotes fair, transparent, practical, and development focused aviation policies that support Somalia's air transport growth.

Safety Awareness and Coordination
Safety is central to aviation. AOA Somalia supports safety awareness by encouraging communication, cooperation, and responsible practices among aviation stakeholders. The Association may organize safety awareness sessions, member briefings, workshops, and technical discussions with relevant aviation bodies and service providers. AOA Somalia does not approve safety systems or certify operators. Its role is to encourage safety culture, coordination, awareness, and continuous improvement within the aviation community.

Airport Operations Support
AOA Somalia supports better coordination between airline operators and airport stakeholders. This may include discussions on passenger flow, check-in processes, boarding procedures, baggage handling, ground handling, aircraft turnaround, ramp coordination, terminal services, airport congestion, and service delays. The Association may collect common operational concerns from members and present them to airport management or relevant authorities in a constructive and organized manner. The objective is to support smoother airport operations, better passenger experience, and improved coordination among aviation service providers.

Domestic Connectivity
AOA Somalia supports the development of reliable domestic air connectivity across Somalia. Domestic aviation is essential for business travel, government operations, humanitarian response, medical movement, trade, regional development, and community access. The Association may support dialogue on domestic routes, regional airport readiness, passenger demand, cargo demand, service reliability, airport conditions, and operational challenges affecting internal air transport. AOA Somalia promotes aviation as a tool for national connectivity, economic development, and regional inclusion.

Airspace, Routes and Charges Dialogue
AOA Somalia may support structured dialogue on matters affecting airspace use, route operations, airport charges, navigation charges, passenger charges, service fees, and other operational costs affecting airline operators. The Association encourages transparency, consultation, fairness, and practical engagement on charges and service related matters. AOA Somalia does not set charges or approve routes. Its role is to provide an organized industry voice during consultations and stakeholder discussions.

Passenger Service Improvement
AOA Somalia supports efforts to improve the passenger experience across Somalia's aviation system. This may include passenger communication, flight disruption information, baggage handling, airport guidance, accessibility, customer service, and coordination during delays or cancellations. The Association may develop public awareness materials, passenger guidance, and industry recommendations to support better service standards. AOA Somalia encourages professionalism, responsibility, and transparency in passenger related services.

Cargo and Logistics Development
Air cargo supports trade, humanitarian supply chains, medical supplies, perishables, e-commerce, business movement, and emergency response. AOA Somalia supports dialogue around cargo handling, documentation, customs coordination, airport cargo facilities, cold chain needs, security procedures, and cargo service efficiency. The Association may work with cargo operators, airlines, ground handlers, airport authorities, customs authorities, logistics providers, and private sector stakeholders to identify practical improvements. AOA Somalia supports the growth of reliable, efficient, and well coordinated air cargo services in Somalia.

Training and Capacity Building
AOA Somalia supports training and capacity building for the aviation sector. The Association may coordinate workshops, seminars, member briefings, technical awareness sessions, and professional development programs. Possible training areas include:

Sustainability and Responsible Aviation Growth

All information activities should respect confidentiality, commercial sensitivity, competition rules, and applicable legal requirements.
